HOUSE RULES - pg. 8              PERSONAL CARE

LAUNDRY:

When you get in junior high, you are expected to do your own laundry weekly.

DAILY MAINTENANCE OF BEDROOM AND BATH:

(All kids are expected to do this as much as ability allows.)

Towels and wash cloths belong hanging on the towel bar.

Dirty clothes belong in the dirty clothes basket.

Beds are to be made each morning - properly. Sheet is to be straight and pulled up, each layer smooth and flat, the bottom is to be tucked in neatly. Pillows neat on bed.

Books, papers, etc. should be on desk and not scattered on floor.

Consequences:

Younger kids - personal amusement curtailed until done.

Older - option of parent - charge for maid service/grounding/parent may declutter room.

ADDITIONAL RULES:

Comments:  These rules are the ones I really did poorly in enforcing with my children. Right now with only one child at home (4/2006) and both of us having very busy schedules, cleaning is low on the totem pole. When I was a stay-at-home mom with more children, I did better with these.
